Picked up my Lincoln MKC 1.5 weeks ago. Impressions are good solid build quality, stable ride, the suspension is nicely tuned so that it does not roll in turns, but still absorbs bumps.
I have the 2.0L Ecoboost FWD in Select Trim, options include GPS navigation, Blind Spot monitoring, white platinum tri coat paint, and the double paned Vista Roof. The MSRP on this was $39,620.

Did you buy it off of a list of AARP recommended dealers? ;)

Does it feel like it's an Escape under the skin? Or have they tuned and upgraded it enough to feel different/better?

Ok, I should really stop referring to it as "mine". No, I'm nowhere near the age of 60, this is my parents' ride who "upgraded" from a Toyota Camry. An upgrade nonetheless in my book.

I refer to my parents cars as mine all the time, and I will until I get a car of my own.

Technically , they widened the front and rear track, lowered roofline, and some other things. Realistically , you actually feel the difference. It doesn't feel like a 20k Escape because of the retuned suspension, which really kills any body roll. There is actually less body roll in this car than the previous 2009 Camry LE. As to build quality, it does feel like a 30-40k car. Solid styling, consistent panel gaps, everything's secure, no rattles or creaks, the seats are one of the SOFTEST ever , beautiful large Vista Roof, and it is very quiet on the highway-you don't need to raise your voice for a conversation.
In this case, I definitely support their platform sharing. Allows them to save costs on a whole new platform re-engineering. This vehicle was the lowest price out of the others we looked at, while also having the most options and features.

That's good to know. I'm really glad it's a good car. Hopefully it does some good at Lincoln.

I'm 16, currently don't have my own car (but have driven many vehicles through friends hehe), so this is something I will drive almost on a daily basis.

As much as I (and other Jalops) complain about soft, pothole-absorbing cruisers, It's hard to pass one up
(especially when it's not yours and you get to go home and drive something more exciting at the end of the day).

You'd be surprised to hear this isn't one of those luxo-barge, dreamy pillow suspension Town Car-esque Lincolns. The suspension is firm, much more so than a Camry, and slightly less firm than a Maxima, where it will quell potholes with ease while also remaining surprisingly flat through turns with almost no body roll (even at " hey lets go for that yellow light left turn" speeds). And I don't even have the optional Continuously Controlled Dampening suspension.

Any plans for what you'll buy with your own money to get a car of your own?
Because as a 16 year old, you will be required to buy, maintain and drive your own car soon, right?
Right?
Because your parents wouldn't just let you drive a new MK-C around at 16 without making you first beat up a crapcan that is easier to repair, right?
Riiiiight?!

WOW! I loved how you guys retained so much of the concept design in the production version. I introduced this car to my parents in January of 2014, when we were looking at Audi Q5s or BMW X3...was hooked from then and was the first to pick ours up from our dealership. Congratulations and I hope this sells well for Lincoln!

Yeah, because compact luxury crossover buyers really love taking their cars to track days and doing burnouts in the Starbucks parking lot when nobody is looking.

You know it! But seriously you could still make it rear wheel drive, but then again who am I to judge.

You want the Navigator then, not this. If the Expedition can do burnouts, then so then the Navigator.

I don't want an SUV though. For cheaper I could get a 3500 truck with a diesel.

Psst. Miata isn't always the answer.
If you want secret speed, do what I did. Get yourself a Nissan Maxima. Mine was a 1990 model for $200, you can probably do better (and with less... electrical problems). They're front wheel drive, yes, but they have the same engines as a Z-car and a 5-speed manual (and if you can manage one from the next gen, they'll have 220+ HP and do 145 easily) and (if you find the right kind) adjustable dampening sport suspension. In 1990.
For RWD cars, get a 4-door or off-brand version of a 2-door muscle car. Ford Crown Victoria, Chevy Caprice are auto 4-doors, and you can find a pre-FWD Chevy Monte Carlo or its platform-sharing derivatives along with the many fox-bodied ford cars that were all RWD. Argument: Yeah, they're bad on gas, but they more than make up for it with cheap insurance, large and safe weight, and incredibly (I mean incredibly) dirt cheap repairs. A Toyota Corolla might go 200,000 miles before needing a single $3000 transmission repair... but a 80s Foxbody will go 200,000 miles with only 2 or 3 $500 repairs, and will almost always be cheaper to fix thanks to the massive parts availability. Nevermind that they're easier to work on, so you might get to learn how to wrench yourself. While most Japanese makes have huge advantages on practicality while driving, it's hard to deny the practicality of a car with ubiquitous, simple, and available parts.
I would argue that over the course of it's life, a 1975 400 Pontiac Grand Prix is probably fewer HP/$ than anything in existence right now. Scoop one up dirt cheap, wrench a bit on it and drive it like a madman while your insurance looks the other way (4 doors, land yacht, shockingly low rates). Even for a 16 year old kid, you can probably save $100 a month on insurance easily (likely more) compared to a Miata. That more than covers the yearly fuel difference. As long as you average 15MPG, you'll break even on maintenence, and you won't have to worry about getting into a wreck (You will. You will get into a wreck before you are 18. It will happen. It will possibly total your car.) because the car can probably be scrapped or parted out for the same price that you bought it at.
That's just my advice, take it with a grain of salt. Do not buy your ideal car at 16, wait until you've wrecked or ruined your first, because you do not want to buy at Miata only to have it end up twisted and ruined.
Either way, you want to buy a car knowing that A) you will probably junk it when you're done with it, B) SOMETHING on it will break early, and C) You'll probably get bored and want to trade up in a years time or so. Keeping that mind, start small and work your way up to the Miata when you're ready.

A 1-ton ton truck doesn't have leather-wrapped ass heaters though. Most people don't buy their cars by the pound. People don't daydream about being able to afford a Class 8 truck, they want luxury and performance.

How did we go from the MKC to the Navigator, to 1 ton pickups? What do you need to tow that a Navigator can't tow, but a rwd MKC could?

I don't know, but you can't tow a 5th wheel with either a Navigator or an MKC.

F-450 King Ranch for you it is, then. The F450 is the F350 optimized for towing.
